“necessary Measures Will Be Taken To Prevent The Repetition Of Any Incident Similar To The July 15 Coup Attempt” , 26.07.2016

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Chairman of the Justice and Development Party and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Republican People’s Party Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party Devlet Bahçeli at the Presidential Complex.

Following the reception, Deputy Secretary General and Spokesperson of the Presidency Ambassador İbrahim Kalın made a written statement. In the reception, which took place at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex on 25 July 2016 with the participation of Chairman of the Justice and Development Party and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Republican People’s Party Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party Devlet Bahçeli, July 15 coup attempt was discussed and views were exchanged on the process to come, according to the statement.

“THIS SPIRIT OF UNITY AND SOLIDARITY IS OUR BIGGEST SOURCE OF POWER TO OVERCOME EVERY KIND OF PROBLEM”

President Erdoğan thanked the party leaders for the open and clear stance they displayed in support of democracy, freedoms and the rule of law against the coup on the night of July 15, stressing that this spirit of unity and solidarity is our biggest source of power to overcome every kind of problem, the statement read, which quoted President Erdoğan as saying: “The heroic deeds of the nation, who took to the streets and squares leaving aside differences of political opinion, and of our security forces, who carried out the instructions given to them, will never be forgotten. The fight against the Gulenist Terrorist Organization (FETO), the PKK and other security threats will be continued with determination.” The statement further read: “President Erdoğan also briefed the leaders on incidents that took place on the night of July 15 and in its aftermath.”

“A RESOLUTE FIGHT WILL BE WAGED AGAINST TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS LIKE THE FETO AND THE PKK”

The statement noted that President Erdoğan listened to chairmen’s views on the coup attempt and the future steps that should be taken, and it continued: “In the reception, steps to be taken for the freedom, the security and the welfare of our nation - who united around the principles of the rule of law and democracy - the state of emergency, security measures, works related to the constitution, and economic policies were evaluated. It was underscored that a resolute fight shall be waged against terrorist organizations like the FETO and the PKK, which are working to take over and demolish the state, and that it is of vital importance to take necessary measures to prevent the repetition of any incident similar to the July 15 coup attempt.”

“THE PROCESS OF STATE OF EMERGENCY WILL BE MANAGED WITH UTMOST CARE”

The statement further emphasized the importance of cooperation between all political parties on the handling of the investigation into the July 15 coup attempt and the management of the process of state of emergency with utmost care. In the reception, a consensus was reached on the effective use of dialogue mechanisms to find permanent solutions to common problems, according to the statement.

The statement concluded as follows: “President Erdoğan said that Turkey would become stronger at the end of this process and thanked the chairmen for visiting the Presidential Complex and defending democracy.”
