Ambassador Ahmet Ergin was born in London in 1970. He graduated from Bilkent University, Department of International Relations.
Ambassador Ergin joined the Foreign Ministry in 1992. He served in the Turkish Consulates-General in Essen, Kazan and Juba, and in the Turkish Embassies in Ashgabat, Sarajevo, Moscow and Juba.
He also served in various positions within economic, political and administrative and financial affairs departments at the Ministry in Ankara.
Ambassador Ergin was most recently Head of Department for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry between 2013 and 2016.
On July 2016, he was appointed as the Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Turkey to New Zealand.
